‘Saharan’ is a drawing of a Berber tribesman from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco This drawing is from the continuing series by David documenting the tribes’ people of the world.

Do you know, this portrait more than any other so far, makes me struggle to imagine it’s not a beautiful Black and White photograph! David has got so much character into this study. It reminds me of some Large Format Portrait photo’s I studied years ago of Ernest Hemmingway (This Drawing is better!). The depth of the detail is stunning.

It’s virtually impossible to see any pencil strokes. David has really worked some kind of magic with this drawing. The Berber chap in it would be overjoyed if he saw this picture.
