David Dancey-Wood,
one of the best
Wildlife Artists in the UK

About David...
Wildlife artist David Dancey-Wood is undoubtedly one of the world's finest pencil artists.
David's original wildlife drawings are in great demand and have even featured in Christie's of London, fine art auctions, where they always attract huge interest, much praise and admiration.
Originally from Bristol, David is now based in the beautiful seaside resort of Bournemouth in the United Kingdom.
His research, and his desire to closely observe his subjects in their natural habitals have taken David around the world, and he has for many years been actively involved with several wildlife conservation projects and expeditions, documenting through his beautiful wildlife pencil drawings, endangered species in their natural habitat.

In 2003, David travelled to Costa Rica to research and study Jaguars in their natural habitat. He followed that up in 2005, with an expedition to Guyana, and then in 2007 to Belize and Guatemala, to continue studying endangered species in the wild.

"In 2011 David was a member of a team led by Colonel John Blashford-Snell, on behalf of the Scientific Exploration Society, on an expedition to The Bardia National Reserve in West Nepal, in search of a mysterious giant elephant presumed to be a long lost relative of the Stegadon.
David prepared a herpataogical report for the society.
He produced some excellent illustrations and a very useful herpetological report dealing with crocodiles, turtles, frogs, a 5 metre python and a 2 metre king Cobra!
His report is now in the Scientific Exploration Society (SES) archives and also held by the Royal Geographic Society (RGS)."

Over the years David Dancey-Wood has also collaborated with several charities to raise awarness and funds through art sales for endangered species.

Among the charities David has collaborated with are; The Snow Leopard Trust, The Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund, and a Hastings based charity called Lifeline that was run by the late Pat Mansard who rehabilitated, bred and reintroduced smaller Big Cats into the wild of Belize, mainly Ocelot and Margay.

Using only the finest German graphite pencils and handmade Italian paper for his originals drawings, and with amazing talent, a passion for wildlife, and his artistic skills, David specializes in creating enchanting portraits of endangered species in a photo-realistic style. Including everyone's favourites; Tigers, Lions, Gorillas, Zebras... and many more.
Wildlife artist David originally specialized in herpetology (the branch of zoology concerned with reptiles and amphibians) and so has also drawn some of the more quirky species including; Crocodiles, Agama Lizards, Turtles, and Frogs, to mention just a few.
